Downtown Lenoir City Now Has a Night Out, and It Starts on Thursday

October 15, 2026

Walk east from the corner of Broadway and B Street after supper on a Thursday and count the lit windows. Ugly Mug Coffee & Cafe is closing up at 7. Maui Waui Cafe is open until 8. Two doors up, The Brosey Game Company opened at 5 and stays open until midnight. Next door, Buck's Billiards reportedly racks until 11:30, according to the Chalky Sticks billiards directory. Around the corner on East Depot Street, the Tennessee Brew Works Lenoir City Barrel House has karaoke going in the Barrel Room until 9.

None of that was downtown at this time last year. Most of it arrived in 2026, and the hours these places chose decide which nights downtown feels busy and which nights it goes quiet by dark. Thursday is the clearest example. It's the first night of the week when every one of these businesses is open, and this fall's two biggest downtown evenings, Witches Night Out and the Christmas Parade, both fall on a Thursday.

The Block That Filled In This Year

The city's Spring 2026 newsletter gives a good snapshot of the turnover. In it, Diane Powell of the Historic Downtown Lenoir City Merchants Association wrote that The Brosey Game Company had opened at 113 E. Broadway, that Buck's Billiards would open "in a couple of months" at 111 E. Broadway with leagues and tournaments, and that the Loudon County Chamber had moved into 119 W. Broadway with a coworking space planned next door. The same column noted that Graham and Cook Insurance had moved from Broadway back to 101 E. Depot, where the company started more than 40 years ago.

The newsletter's events list also had this line:

BREWERY OPENING – April 25

The brewery didn't make that date. Tennessee Brew Works announced a grand opening for Friday, August 28, and Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 200 East Depot Street, about four months after the spring target. That delay explains why downtown's evening options feel so new. The anchor at the Depot Street end has only been open about six weeks.

The Barrel House is the largest of the newcomers. The company says it starts with a 5-barrel brewhouse for experimental and small-batch beers and plans a bigger production system later. It also runs the room as a sports bar and live music venue. Executive Chef Alex Leibow moved from Nashville to open a kitchen built around the beer. The menu includes the Five Beer Burger, breads and buns baked in-house, and pizza made with amber ale dough and a saison sauce. The release also notes that the Lenoir City Farmers Market sets up right next to the building.

The Week, Door by Door

The hours below come from each business's own website or from the merchants association directory, as of early October 2026. Buck's Billiards is the exception. Its hours come from a third-party billiards directory, and the business hasn't confirmed them in any source we could find, so call before you go.

Ugly Mug Coffee & Cafe at 108 B Street covers the daytime end. It's open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays, and serves paninis, flatbread pizza, quiche and pastries along with coffee. The merchants directory also lists Markets on Broadway at 121 E. Broadway, the same address as Maui Waui Cafe.

Thursday Is the First Night Every Door Is Open

Read the table by row instead of by column and the pattern is easy to see. Brosey, which has more than 400 games you can play in the store and day passes from $5, doesn't open until Thursday. Maui Waui Cafe is closed Sundays and Mondays. Kyle's Creamery is closed Wednesdays. The Barrel House is closed Sundays.

So downtown splits into two kinds of evenings. Monday through Wednesday, you have the brewery, the billiards hall if its posted hours hold, and two of the three food stops on any given night. Thursday through Saturday, all five are open at once. Thursday is the earliest night in the week when you can eat, play a board game, shoot pool and finish at the brewery without driving anywhere.

Each venue also has its own reason to come on a particular night. The Barrel House runs trivia on Mondays and karaoke on Thursdays from 6 to 9. Brosey lists tournaments, a chess club and social-deduction game nights, though its site doesn't post a dated fall schedule. Buck's was announced with leagues and tournaments in mind, and we didn't find a league schedule in any source we checked.

This Fall's Downtown Calendar Lands on Those Nights

The fall and holiday dates for Historic Downtown Lenoir City come from the Loudon County Chamber calendar and the City of Lenoir City special events page. Here's how they line up with the table above:

  1. Thursday, October 29, Witches Night Out, 4 to 7 p.m. on Broadway. The Chamber bills it as "A Shopping Night Out. All Treats No Tricks." Shopping wraps up at 7, while Barrel House karaoke runs until 9, Brosey is open until midnight, and Maui Waui serves until 8. It's the first downtown shopping night since every new business opened, and it falls on a night when all of them are open.
  2. Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7, Holiday Open House on Broadway. The Chamber listing says boutiques will show new seasonal items. It doesn't list hours or participating shops. Both days are full-lineup days, and Maui Waui stays open until 11 on both.
  3. Monday, November 30, Christmas Tree Lighting, 6 to 7 p.m. It's free and held at Lenoir City Central Park, 307 East Broadway Street. This is the thin-night exception. Brosey and Maui Waui are closed on Mondays. The Barrel House is open with trivia, and Kyle's Creamery is just a short walk east on Broadway until 8:30.
  4. Thursday, December 3, Christmas Parade, 6:30 p.m. Lineup starts at 5 p.m. on South C Street. It's another Thursday, so the brewery, the game store, the pool hall and both food stops will be open when the parade ends.

Some events on the city's calendar happen away from Broadway, so they don't fit this map. Lenoir City Park After Dark, the same evening as Witches Night Out, is at Wampler-Keith Park on Rock Springs Road. Evening with Santa on December 10 is at the War Memorial Building.

Where the Map Still Goes Dark

Sunday evening is the biggest gap. Brosey and Kyle's Creamery are the only places in the table open on Sunday evening, and Ugly Mug closes at 3. The Barrel House says it expects to add Sunday brunch "in the near future" and hasn't announced a start date.

Tuesday also lost something when the weather turned. The Lenoir City Farmers Market ran on Depot Street on Tuesdays from 4 to 7 p.m., May 5 through September 22, 2026. No fall or holiday market had been announced as of early October. The brewery the release placed beside the market now has Tuesday nights at that end of Depot Street largely to itself.

Several things are still pending. The Barrel House says its live music schedule is "coming soon." The Chamber's coworking space next to 119 W. Broadway was announced in the spring, and we couldn't confirm it has opened. The spring newsletter also said a few downtown storefronts were vacant and invited new shop owners to reach out. Any of those could change the weeknight table above, and a Sunday brunch would change the Sunday row first.

When a downtown adds evening hours, that changes what the homes within walking distance of Broadway and Depot Street offer, and buyers start asking about it.
